Results for FDT Contest

We are glad to announce the results for the FDT Contest we organized in July. The winner is Lionel Low (aka Flashmech) from TBWA\Tequila!

Congratulations Lionel!

What the Contest is about:
The FDT Contest requires the entrants to write a simple application using FDT, the IDE for Actionscript Development, and following that, writing a review on FDT. The winner will walk away with a Enterprise FDT License that is worth $1200 SGD.

The Entries:
Lionel Low, an experienced Flash developer and interactive designer who had been using Flash Develop for his project, had switched to FDT to create an ActionScript Base presentation for this talk during FUG meeting.

Lionel’s review can be found here.

Arul Kumaran is the next runner up. Impressed by his works, the prize sponsor FDT decides to present Arul Kumaran with a Professional FDT License! Congrats and well done Arul Kumaran!

Arul Kumaran created a template engine based on FDT. His review can be found here.

About FDT
FDT is a plug-in which boosts the already mighty open-source platform Eclipse and turns it into a powerful development environment for serious Flash and ActionScript coding.
What can FDT do?

With FDT both - Mac and Windows users - benefit from features for almost every task. Here are some examples: a customizable formatter keeps the code clean and well structured, code completion speeds up your work, error highlighting and quick fixes are available without compiling, refactoring helps you e.g. to easily rename files. FDT integrates the Flex SDK Debugger into the Eclipse Debug Perspective. This allows you debugging ways as you know them from JDT and Flex Builder.

FDT has also just released a new version of FDT (FDT 3.1.0 build 1011) which includes many new features and numerous bugfixes, including:

AIR Debug Launcher as SWF Viewer
AIR Release Launcher
SWC Outline view
QuickTrace (Ctrl+0/Command+0)

Summary
We would like to thank all participants of the contest. We hope that you can continue to support FUG events so that we can have more contests in the future!
